Remote Work is available with only 1-2 days per month of physical presence in the office required. When physical presence is required, employees are responsible for travel expenses to their office site. Additional Hybrid Telework and Alternative Work Week Schedules are also available.

The Research Data Manager (RDM) has a managerial responsibility for data dissemination and to oversee high-level research, which includes planning, organizing, and directing research studies of a highly developed scope and complexity. The RDM is a member of the Healthcare Analytics Branch and serves as manager, leading healthcare projects and data dissemination for the Data Request Services Group within the Analytics and Data Section (ADS). The RDM functions to supervise staff in the Healthcare Data Resources Unit and the Workforce and Utilization Analysis Team, and to manage research, data analysis, and evaluation to implement evidence-based programs and policies, inform management decisions and ensure accountability. The RDM oversees projects and statistical analyses using various specialized healthcare data sources in response to the data needs of Division staff, federal, state, and local governmental agencies, the legislature, the healthcare industry, the media and the general public.

In the Department of Health Care Access and Information (HCAI) work environment, staff handle confidential patient data. Specific statutes and regulations, and HCAI policies and procedures, govern the collection, storage, disclosure, and use of confidential data. The employee is responsible for the safe and secure handling of this data in compliance with these policies and procedures.

Do you have the following education or experience?

Experience:

Either I
One year in the California state civil service performing data research-oriented duties in a class with a level of responsibility equivalent to that of Research Data Supervisor II, or the Research Data Specialist II; or

Six years of professional data research-oriented experience which must have included responsibility for the determination of research data gathering and reporting design and methodology of a complete research project. (Research experience applied toward this pattern must include at least one year of experience performing duties with a level of responsibility equivalent to Research Supervisor II, or the Research Data Specialist II.)
