AOT Data Analyst - Operations & Safety Bureau

This is an entry level AOT Data Analyst position within the Data and Analysis Section of the Operations and Safety Bureau at the Agency of Transportation (AOT). The primary purpose of the Data and Analysis Section is to build, implement, and manage a system to collect and analyze crash data, traffic volume & mobility data, and intelligent transportation systems data, thereby enabling engineers, law enforcement, policy makers and other road users to make sound, consistent, information-based decisions.

This position is responsible for providing traffic and crash data to VTrans engineers and technicians to support project design and traffic and safety operations. Other responsibilities include preparing annual and ad-hoc reports and managing several Microsoft Access data tables. The successful candidate will be attentive to details and accuracy, have an investigative nature, and have
experience analyzing numerical data. The person in this position will work cooperatively with other Data Analysts and GIS Specialists to advance the Section's objectives. This is a position that will provide skills, education and experience that will support future career growth.

The majority of duties are completed in an office environment, but occasional field work may be required. Telework and alternative work schedules may be available as outlined in the current State policy.

Minimum Qualifications
Associate’s degree or two (2) years college coursework in data science, data analysis, engineering, geographic information systems (GIS), or other closely related field.
OR
Two (2) or more years of experience in data science, data analysis, engineering, geographic information systems (GIS), or other closely related field.
