Job Title: Postdoctoral Research Associate - Molecular Biophysics

Overview: 
Oak Ridge National Laboratory is the largest US Department of Energy science and energy laboratory, conducting basic and applied research to deliver transformative solutions to compelling problems in energy and security.
 
We are seeking a Postdoctoral Research Associate who will support the Molecular Biophysics group the Biosciences Division (BSD), Biological and Environmental Systems Science Directorate (BESSD) at Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL).  This individual will adapt a generative adversarial model to predict disorder to order transitions subject to a phosphorylation event.
 
Major Duties/Responsibilities: 
  • Develop and refine a generative adversarial network for designing peptides
  • Implement descriptors for phosphorylation and disorder-to-order transition
  • Perform molecular dynamics simulations
 
Basic Qualifications:
  • A PhD in a relevant field of science, including mathematics, chemistry/biochemistry, computer science, physics, or bioengineering
 
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with maching learning and structural biology toolkits
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Motivated self-starter with the ability to work independently and to participate creatively in collaborative teams across the laboratory 
  • Ability to function well in a fast-paced research environment, set priorities to accomplish multiple tasks within deadlines, and adapt to ever changing needs
