Impact Analyst

Job Description

Impact Measurement & Management (IMM) is a core component of Calvert Impact Capital’s work and is central to our new product strategy. IMM is how we assess impact across the organization, from the impact we have on our investors and our portfolio partners to the impact we have on communities around the world and on the planet. We are seeking an Impact Analyst to support our day-to-day IMM work, including supporting annual impact data collection and analysis, contributing to our annual impact report, and further developing our IMM analytics.

The role requires someone who enjoys both data analysis and writing and who has superb organizational and project management skills. The Impact Analyst should be able to thrive in a fast-paced environment and be passionate about understanding how organizations assess, measure, and manage impact across a wide variety of impact sectors and geographies. The Impact Analyst must also be strongly committed to the mission of Calvert Impact Capital. This position will report to the Director of Impact Management and will work across the organization, coordinating closely with members of the Investments and Investor Relations teams. This is a terrific opportunity for someone early in their career interested in investing for positive social and environmental impact.


Key Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Impact Data Collection, Monitoring, Analysis, and Reporting:

  • Support the collection, management, and analysis of portfolio partner impact data, both quantitative and qualitative
  • Support the annual impact report content development and design process, incorporating Calvert Impact Capital’s overall impact including new products and services
  • Identify opportunities to enhance portfolio partners’ impact reporting, including on gender and racial equity
  • Manage photos and stories received from our portfolio partners
  • Support monitoring of impact and ESG risks identified during diligence and as new impact and ESG risks surface in the portfolio
  • Manage the development of the quarterly report
  • Coordinate with the Investor Relations team on impact report requests from investors and advisors
  • Further develop the IMM analytics capacity, integrating impact data analyses with business intelligence tools
  • Support the development of IMM frameworks and systems for new products, in coordination with Strategy and new product leads
  • Support Calvert Impact Capital’s contribution to industry initiatives and groups, such as the Operating Principles for Impact Management, the Global Impact Investing Network (GIIN), Impact Frontiers, and Racial Justice Investing’s Investor Statement and Call to Action

Qualifications

The ideal candidate:
  • Is passionate about the mission and work of Calvert Impact Capital and our commitment to justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion
  • Enjoys both data analysis and writing
  • Is proficient in Excel, bonus if the candidate is familiar with relational databases and/or data visualization tools (e.g., Airtable, Power BI, Salesforce)
  • Is fluent in English and is an effective and respectful communicator (both oral and written) and listener
  • Can work effectively both as part of a team and independently
  • Is open to different perspectives and learning new methods of analysis
  • Is skilled at prioritizing competing demands and working across teams with different priorities
  • Is intellectually curious, combined with a good sense of humor and high integrity
  • Has a positive, “can-do” attitude focused on implementing solutions
  • Has an undergraduate degree, bonus if the candidate has taken any impact investing, international development, impact measurement, monitoring & evaluation courses
