Risk Analyst Intern

Position Summary
The Risk Analyst Intern is responsible for the review of qualifications and existing Correspondent counterparties through the Correspondent recertification process for clients. This review will confirm high-quality business partners, focus on organizational, operational, and financial analysis, as well as licensing and other compliance factors to ensure they meet NewRez’s eligibility requirements. Another main function of this position will be to provide customer service support by fielding inquiries in the Lender Management Mailbox. Finally, the qualified candidate will assist with reconciliation tasks for financial statements and various other items needed from sales and clients to maintain a sound counterparty risk prevention program.
 
Roles and Responsibilities
 
o   Perform a complete risk assessment of existing Correspondent relationships. Recommendations must outline all compensating factors if an exception is granted, all derogatory information must be noted and addressed and must outline the risk associated with the /existing relationship (e.g., eligibility, loan quality, loan performance, lawsuits, capitalization, ownership, operational structure, financial viability, etc.) justifying the Analyst’s approval/denial recommendation of the client).
 
o  Review third-party vendor information/reports and collect all necessary data to address conflicting information or mitigate potential risk to NewRez to ensure that regulatory, compliance and internal eligibility requirements are met prior to issuing an Approval/Denial recommendation of new customers.
 
o  Escalate and document risk issues uncovered during the approval, or recertification processes (i.e. changes in the client’s operational and/or funding and/or ownership structure, etc.) to management that are outside the established eligibility requirements or that present an increased or unacceptable level of risk to Ditech.
 
o  Ensure that proper management authorization is obtained prior to “official” approval, denial, suspension, inactivation, or termination of a client.
 
 
o  Request and review quarterly financials and quality control reports as needed, of current clients and escalate any risk issues found to management.
 
 
Qualifications
 
o  Major field of Study in Accounting, Finance or Risk Management Preferred
o  Knowledge of Microsoft Office software (Microsoft Word, & Excel).
o  Must be detailed oriented to achieve results with accuracy and precision.
o  Must have strong communication skills, both oral and written.
o  Must be self-motivated and able to work independently.
