Applied Mathematics Internship

Internship Description
Matrix Sensors, Inc. is seeking an independent, motivated individual to bring on to our engineering team . This intern would report directly to the VP Engineering at our San Diego, CA facility.

Weekly commitment: 30-40 hrs/week in-person

Specific responsibilities may include:
·        Assist in the development of mathematical models for sensors
·        Perform sensor testing and analyze results
·        Write scripts in Python for data analysis and model fitting
·        Routine workup of sensor test data
·        Developing automated data processing scripts
·        Documenting and testing new software applications
·        Collaborating with engineers and scientists on other projects as-needed

Desired skills include:
·        Python (required), C++ (optional), LabView (optional)
·        Proficiency in one major computer algebra system (e.g. Mathematica, Maple)
·        Experience with functional programming is a plus
·        Optimizing algorithms for speed and/or memory usage
·        Software test and debugging skills
·        Self-motivated and results-oriented
·        Great attention to detail
·        Proactive problem-solving
·        Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
·        Robotics skills and experience would translate well to this position

Qualifications:
·        Degree in Physics, Chemistry, or an engineering field with physics courses
·        Must be able to commit to 30-40 hrs/week for a minimum of 4 months
·        Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
