Student Trainee (Physical Science) GS 3-4

This position is part of the Office of Science - Office of Scientific and Technical Information, Department of Energy. As a Student Trainee (Physical Science), you will be assisting and supporting the Office of Science and Technology Information (OSTI) responsibilities and functions for collecting, preserving, and disseminating Department of Energy's scientific and technical information (STI) and Research and Development (R&D).

As a Student Trainee (Physical Science), you will:
  • Analyze portions of current or projected program operations to evaluate effectiveness in meeting established goals and objectives.
  • Collect data from a variety of reference sources and prepare reports to present patterns and trends in program activities.
  • Develop and coordinate a variety of reports, staff actions, correspondence, and other related actions.

The position is being filled under the Pathways Internship Program within the Office of Science. This Internship Program provides students who are enrolled in or accepted for enrollment in a wide variety of qualifying educational institutions with paid opportunities to work and explore career paths related to their academic fields of study or career interests.

Education: You must be currently enrolled or accepted for enrollment seeking a degree from a qualifying educational institution on a full or half-time basis as defined by the institution. The required education must lead to a degree with specialization in or directly related to their academic fields of study or career interests, (ie., physical science, engineering, or mathematics). You must meet the below education requirements:

GS3: Completion of one full academic year of post-high school study.

GS4: Completion of two full academic years of post-high school study or an associate's degree.
