Sheriff’s Office Fiscal Analyst

The Sonoma County Sheriff's Office seeks skilled fiscal analysts for their Administration Unit. Full-time and anticipated part-time positions are available!

We offer a starting salary up to $42.53/hour ($88,765/year), a cash allowance of approximately $600/month added to the starting pay, and a competitive total compensation package, including*:
  • Flex work schedule and teleworking options, upon successful completion of training
  • Eligibility for a 5% salary increase after 1040 hours (approximately 6 months when working full-time) for good work performance; eligibility for a 5% salary increase for good performance every year thereafter, until reaching the top of the salary range

As the full-time Sheriff's Fiscal Analyst, you will develop, monitor, and manage the budgets of multiple operational units. This includes the preparation of projections and other financial reports/recommendations, conducting operational data and cost analysis, developing and administering grants and contracts, managing Requests for Proposals (RFP's), and preparing Board agenda items and special presentations.
The part-time Sheriff's Fiscal Analyst position will be dedicated to two distinct programs, the Sonoma County Auto Theft Task Force (SONCATT) and the Cal-ID Program. This position will be assigned to managing the fiscal and administrative workload associated with these two programs. This includes preparing budget documents, entering information into County systems, preparing projections and financial analysis, submitting financial reports to the State, supporting fiscal audits, preparing and managing requisitions and service agreements, preparing Board items, participating in and providing fiscal and administrative support during Council and RAN Board meetings, and providing general budget, administrative support, and legislative review throughout the year. Once fully trained, it is anticipated that the majority of this part-time position can be accomplished through approved teleworking. In-person attendance at council quarterly meetings and other Sheriff’s Office Fiscal Unit meetings would be required.

The ideal candidates will possess:
  • Professional administrative management experience that focused on budgets, grants, RFP's, and contracts
  • A strong work ethic, and the ability to adapt quickly and work effectively with minimal direction
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Demonstrated organizational skills, with experience managing complex, diverse tasks and projects that have competing priorities and deadlines
  • Strong analytical skills, sound judgment, and a common sense approach to work
  • Experience developing strong, collaborative working relationships with all levels of staff
  • Spreadsheet experience
