Assistant Fuel Marketing Analyst

Location:  White Plains, NY, US

Summary

The Assistant Fuel Marketing Analyst is responsible for supporting NYPA’s Fuels department by running month-end financial reports, monitoring and updating KPI measures, assisting with automating processes, and providing other sources of data-analytic support. The Fuels department is part of a larger unit called the Energy Resource Management (ERM) group which steers NYPA’s merchant revenues through NYISO markets and financial transactions. The fuels department is responsible for procuring the natural resources which allow for our generation units to run on behalf of the NYISO commitments. The Assistant Fuel Marketing Analyst will partake in the efforts of improving and innovating current business models by incorporating results of data research.  #LI-CJ1

Responsibilities

  • Organize data and reports to help facilitate business decision making 
  • Update ERM Tableau dashboards with latest business results, ie. Fuel expense true-up
  • Update business unit’s KPI measures for management reporting
  • Build automated connections between external databases and internal portals
  • Perform ad-hoc analysis of fuel related expenses – ie. RGGI, Gas Transportation, Pipeline, Index
  • Attend external and internal training courses relative to ERM operations
  • Build robust PowerPoint presentations for effective communication of study results

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Intermediate coding knowledge - SQL, VBA, and PYTHON
  • Knowledge and experience in Tableau or Power Business Intelligence preferred
  • Strong researching abilities required
  • Multi-tasking abilities 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Tools
  • General knowledge of fuel or energy industry preferred
  •  

Education, Experience and Certifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required. Management Information Systems, Business Administration, or related fields utilizing quantitative analysis strongly preferred
  • Master’s degree or other advanced academic study in data science or data analytics preferred. Can be currently enrolled in program.
  • Experience in utility industry a plus

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to work seated at a desk and occasionally travel via car, train, or airplane.
