Confirmation Analyst

Job Summary: (includes but is not limited to the following, other duties may be assigned):

The Confirmation Analyst’s primary responsibility is to confirm retail/wholesale energy and/or gas trades with counterparties and within the Energy Trade and Risk Management (ETRM) system ensuring proper position reporting. Perform essential quality assurance on contract language and associated data elements for completeness and accuracy while understanding the deal workflow and downstream business processes.  

Job Responsibilities:

1. Confirm retail/ wholesale transactions for both power and gas books with counterparties. (75%)
a. Monitor internal business workflows to obtain contracts and supporting documentation 
b. Perform quality control review of contract language  
c. Ensure completeness and accuracy of supporting documentation
d. Resolve any discrepancies to minimize P&L impact
2. Internal and external communication (15%)
a. Respond to related emails; maintaining effective working relationships
b. Ability to be responsive to Structuring and Portfolio Managers in a demanding environment
c. Prioritize to meet business expectations and strict deadlines
3. Business/Organization Knowledge (10%)
a. Demonstrate the ability to work independently and flexibility to adapt well to change
b. Maintain effective working relationships with other departments in the company
c. Demonstrate a high understanding of the downstream processes (Billing, Risk, Accounting, etc.) and the flow of data to and from other departments

Job Requirements:
• Requires a bachelor’s degree, preferably in Math, Finance, Business, Economics or Engineering with 1- 3 years experience. Energy industry experience desirable
• Effective communication skills both written and oral
• Strong analytical and critical thinking 
• Basic understanding of front/mid/back office processes
