Safety Director
Duties and Responsibilities May Include:
Safety Leadership:
- Lead in the administration of all aspects of Citadel Electric’s safety program
- Be a 24/7 safety resource for Citadel Electric personnel
- Creates annual plan for improvement to various safety metrics such as EMR, TRIR, etc.
- Support the development, planning, and implementation of safety and other related policies and procedures
- Responsible for communicating with field leadership and project managers to ensure they follow company policies and local, state, and federal workplace regulations
- Monitors hazards and makes recommendations for incident prevention to operating company leadership
- Oversight of prefabrication shop safety program
- Implementation of fleet, equipment, and tool safety and asset management program
Compliance Documentation and Record Keeping:
- Completes required reporting for OSHA, Avetta, Veriforce, PSMS, and other third parties as required
- Administer training, safety recordkeeping, and documentation for compliance to safety training policies and requirements
- Perform safety and equipment audits of company, job sites and PPE safety equipment to identify and correct potential safety hazards and ensure compliance with the safety program.
- Prepares site-specific safety plans as required
Training:
- Perform regular safety training sessions and coordinate toolbox talks
- Monitors the training needs of the workforce
- Conduct or facilitate electrical and construction specific safety training and education programs to supervisory and field employees through formal training classes, safety meetings, or other venues.
- Maintain organized records for all training.
Accident Investigation
- Leads the investigation of safety-related damage incidents, employee injuries or occupational illnesses, and motor vehicle accidents to determine cause and contributing factors.
- Facilitate and help administer insurance claims with the appropriate leaders and insurance contacts.
- Assist in job site accident, near-miss and occupational injury investigations to determine probable root causes. Provide recommendations for improvements.
Requirements and Qualifications
- B.A. / B.S. or equivalent trade experience required, experience with Electrical safety programs is a plus
- Construction Safety Professional (CSP) certification
- OSHA 30
- 5 years minimum leadership experience in addressing and reducing risk in a labor-intensive industry, preferably construction.
- Strong knowledge of, or ability to gain knowledge of local, state, and federal environmental health and safety regulations and practices in construction and general industry applications,
- Strong understanding of business processes
- Strong interpersonal, management, communication, writing, and organizational skills
- Experience operating independently with little day-to-day supervision
- Experience with and ability to interact with others effectively through virtual means (MS Teams, Webex, Zoom)
- Experience with MS 365 applications
- Experience with OSHA reporting requirements
- Experience with third party safety qualification programs such as Avetta, ISNetworld, Veriforce, etc.
- Pass background check to access secure facilities such as schools and military bases
