Accounting Analyst (I, II or Senior)

SALARY RANGE
In addition to a competitive starting salary range of $54,900 - $73,200 (Accounting Analyst I)  $63,525 - 84,700 (Accounting Analyst II) $73,725-$98,300 (Accounting Analyst Senior) (based on qualifications, skills and abilities), Chelan PUD employees also enjoy outstanding benefits which include the option of a zero cost medical plan (medical, dental and vision for all eligible dependents), short and long-term disability, Washington State Public Employee's Retirement System, Deferred Compensation (with company matching funds up to 5%), 11 holidays and initial personal leave accrual at 21 days per year.

JOB POSTING
SUMMARY: Under general supervision, perform accounting and reporting for one or more business lines and functional areas, assist with preparation of combined financial statements, prepare tax returns, support external audits and meet various external reporting requirements for the District's combined reporting entity of over $1 billion in assets and annual revenues of over $400 million. Ensure that accounting and reporting practices are in compliance with contractual agreements, federal and state regulations, generally accepted accounting principles, bond covenants and District financial policies. Work output has considerable impact on the work of other financial functions, reporting, decision making processes and is essential for receiving clean audit opinions, maintaining strong credit ratings and achieving District financial goals and strategic objectives.

This position will be filled at the Accounting Analyst I, II or Senior level, contingent upon the selected applicant's education, skills and experience.

RESPONSIBILITES: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function of the job satisfactorily. 

30% of Time
 Journalize financial statement activity, perform reconciliations, variance analysis, research and resolve discrepancies to ensure the accuracy of reported information. 

20% of Time
Assist department in monitoring accounting practices for compliance with contractual agreements, FERC regulations, GASB and FASB pronouncements, state requirements and management policy. Identify problem areas and potential solutions.
 
10% of Time
 Analyze, prepare schedules and respond to inquiries in support of various audits.
 
10% of Time
 Compute taxes owed and prepare tax returns, ensuring compliance with payment, reporting or other tax requirements.
 
10% of Time
Participate in the design and implementation of new procedures, policies or services.

10% of Time
Assist with compilation of financial data for external data requests.
 
10% of Time
Assist with financial analysis and document review on special projects.

Post Secondary Education
Bachelor’s Degree: Bachelor's degree (B. S., B. A.) Accounting, Business Administration, or related field from a college or university.  Preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.

 
Minimum Experience
Accounting Analyst I
Experience: 2+ Years of Accounting or finance experience required.
Public sector accounting experience preferred.
 
Accounting Analyst II
Experience: 4+ Years of other accounting or relevant financial experience, such as budgeting, or financial analysis, preferably in the public sector or in the utility industry required.
Public sector accounting experience preferred.
 
Accounting Analyst Senior
Experience: 6+ Years of accounting experience, including 3 years of public sector utility accounting experience required.
 
Licenses and Certifications

Accounting Analyst I, II & Senior

Certified Public Accountant (CPA) : preferred
