Supply Chain Specialist

Whirlpool is currently seeking qualified candidates for the position of Supply Chain Specialist . If you have a background in inventory management and in managing supplier relationships, then this position may be for you. Responsibilities will be to engage with the supply chain required to support service parts to our customers. This is a great opportunity for someone with the desired background who works well within a team and is detail-oriented. 

Drive outstanding commitment to our consumers, expediting service parts to our Plainfield Parts Distribution Center, working closely with the supply base, and internal process partners, coordinating timely shipments of materials to meet required delivery expectations. Provide accurate and timely communication related to part availability status to both internal and external customers. Continuously identify improvement opportunities 
on departmental processes to simplify work, standardize processes, and eliminate waste. 
 

Your responsibilities will include

 
•   As a process leader, drive the completion of projects and initiatives that are critical for supporting parts availability by identifying and resolving issues that would otherwise prevent our customers from receiving service parts. Lead supplier meetings providing accurate updates while representing Inventory Management as the primary point of contact
•   Follow up on late shipments with vendors and Operations, expediting parts, including coordinating EXPART Requests to assist in Product Exchange Avoidance
•   Work in a collaborative work environment, partnering with service procurement, engineering services, customer service, and our Plainfield team to resolve key issues tied to part availability, quality, damage, and over/under shipments 
•   Manage inventory by controlling substitution timing, reviewing losses and gains, and disposition of open items
•   Provide timely communication to our customer base, providing updates and shipping information to the field
•   Interact with all levels of the organization and practice excellent communication with associates, supervisors, peers, managers, as well as upper management, all in alignment with Whirlpool's Leadership Model
•   Communicate and influence all levels of the organization by embodying and exhibiting team spirit at all times
•   Analyze, refine, and recommend future state processes, best practices, tools, etc. to include in the final design 
•   Assist with process mapping, etc. to drive productivity improvement projects. 
•   Develop others, coach, mentor, and challenge associates to understand, embrace, and implement lean principles as well as practice the Whirlpool leadership model every day
•   Interact with all levels of the organization and practice excellent communication with associates, supervisors, peers, managers, as well as upper management, all in alignment with Whirlpool's Leadership Model
•   Ensure that decisions support division-wide safety, quality, delivery, and cost goals
•   Employees in this role can work a hybrid schedule of three core days in office and two days remote. This enables employees to come together to collaborate in-person and gives employees the added flexibility to work remotely
 

Minimum requirements

 
•   Bachelor's Degree
•  3 months+ (including Internships) of work experience in one or more of the following disciplines: Supply Chain, Transportation, Warehousing, Logistics, Purchasing, Procurement, or Forecasting 
 

Preferred skills and experiences

•   3+ years Supply Chain experience 
•   Experience with SAP applications
•   Experience with continuous improvement programs, such as lean principles, Kaizen events, Kanban, Six Sigma, process mapping, value stream mapping, best method & work standards development 
•   Attention to detail, strong decision-making skills
•   Excellent communication skills
•   Proficiency in Excel and other Microsoft Office tools 
•   Work cooperatively with people at all levels of the organization 
•   Proven critical thinking and diagnostic abilities to drive change on a consistent basis through the lean transformation 
•   Vendor Management experience 
•   Material Management and/or Material Requirement Planning experience 
•   Proficient in using Google applications 
•   Proven self-starter with the ability to work independently
