Keeping Washington Clean and Evergreen

The Water Quality Program within the Department of Ecology is looking to fill a Construction Stormwater General Permit Writer (Environmental Specialist 4) position.

This position is located in our Headquarters Office in Lacey, WA.

Upon hire, you must live within a commutable distance from the duty station.

Stormwater runoff from construction sites can carry muddy water, debris, and chemicals into local waterways. Sediments, chemicals, and debris can harm aquatic life and reduce water quality. We require regulated construction sites to get coverage under the Construction Stormwater General Permit (CSWGP). Following the requirements in this permit helps control and reduce water pollution.

The mission of the Water Quality Program is to protect and restore Washington's waters to sustain healthy watersheds and communities. Our work ensures that state waters support beneficial uses including recreational and business activities, supplies for clean drinking water, and the protection of fish, shellfish, wildlife, and public health.

If you are well-organized, enjoy working with others, including the regulated community, and have leadership and problem solving skills, please consider applying. A person with technical writing skills, an understanding of stormwater, experience with regulations or the regulated community, and the ability to lead a team is a great candidate for this role on our team.
