Nighttime Economy Project Coordinator

POSITION SUMMARY
The Nighttime Economy Project Coordinator works under the direction of the Nighttime Economy Manager to coordinate services and resources that address the complex issues surrounding the nighttime economy. The NTE Project Coordinator upholds the Sociable City mission and goals and implements strategies that sustain a safe and vibrant social experience for residents and visitors.   
This position may be eligible for some remote work flexibility in a hybrid work schedule!

Salary: $62,380 per year (2022 rate).

Qualifying Requirements:
Your City of Pittsburgh application will be reviewed, and your work experience and education/training will be evaluated to determine if you meet the qualifying eligibility requirements listed below for this position. You will be sent an eligibility letter regarding your eligible/ineligible status.
WORK EXPERIENCE: The application must clearly show four (4) years of full-time progressive experience in hospitality, community organizing, planning and facilitating meetings, identifying community needs, collaborating with community leaders and residents, managing events, programs and projects. (Full-time is defined as 32 hours or more per week. Less than full-time experience will be calculated on a pro-rated basis)
EDUCATION/TRAINING: The application must clearly show a Bachelor's Degree or similar training in Hospitality Management, Business, Planning, Public Administration, Public Safety or a related field. (See NOTE under the General Application Requirements Section above regarding the verification of education/training).
EQUIVALENCY: Education/training and/or work experience may be substituted on a year for year basis if the application clearly shows the required number of years to meet the Total Qualifying Requirement for this position (based on the sum of work experience and education/training listed above). The Total Qualifying Requirement is eight (8) years. (See NOTE under the General Application Requirements Section above regarding the verification of education/training)
CIVIL SERVICE EXAMINATIONS
If you meet the qualifying requirements listed above, you will be sent a letter of admission (when applicable) for the following examination(s). You must pass the written and/or performance examination(s) in order to have your name placed on the official Civil Service eligibility list for this position. Candidates who receive job offers must pass a medical examination (when applicable) prior to start date.

POSITION DUTIES
  • Attends a broad range of public community meetings and acts as a representative of the Department of Public Safety. Observes nightlife activity in various neighborhoods and report on trends and impacts.
  • Organizes and promotes educational events and trainings as well as participates in other stakeholders’ events. 
  • Guides new hospitality businesses through the city process of opening a business and in understanding regulations and requirements. 
  • Develops brochures, guides, newsletters and other educational resources to assist existing hospitality business operators achieve consistent compliance. 
  • Disseminates information through the use of social media platforms. 
  • Aids neighborhoods with both residential and commercial activity to achieve peaceful and mutually beneficial coexistence. 
  • Facilitates communication and promotes an atmosphere of trust, fairness, and collaboration amongst diverse stakeholders. 
  • Performs administrative functions including contact development and management, writing memos, and maintaining files. 
  • Tracks, measures, and reports on data that indicates change or improvements in public safety and economic development.
