Fire and Life Safety Officer II, Health Facilities Construction

Work from home and remote work options available. Position qualifies for up to 40% telework.


The Fire and Life Safety Officer (FLSO) II, (Health Facilities Construction) (HFC) will perform, preliminary, triage, normal, expedite, and over-the-counter reviews of submittal documents pertaining to the design and construction of healthcare facilities as required to ensure compliance with the fire and life safety requirements of Title 19 and 24, California Code of Regulations, the Division’s Policy Intent Notices, Code Application Notices and other applicable codes, guidelines and policies, and other reference materials. 

This position is subject to the Form 700 Statement of Economic Interests filing requirements, which requires disclosure of certain personal economic interests as determined by the Conflict of Interest Code of the Office of Statewide Health Planning and Development. Pursuant to Government Code section 81008, Form 700 Statement of Economic Interests is public record and will be made available for public inspection.

Do you have the following education or experience?

Either I

 
Two years of experience in the California state service performing the duties of a Fire and Life Safety Officer I (Health Facilities Construction).


Or II

 
Experience: Four years of experience performing full-time plan review and/or technical inspection or supervision of general construction projects for fire and life safety compliance in a public or private fire prevention agency. At least two years of the qualifying experience must have involved the construction of health facilities projects. and
 
Education: Equivalent to graduation from an accredited four-year college with a major in fire service administration, fire protection administration and technology, engineering, chemistry, physics or architecture. (Additional qualifying experience may substitute for education on a year-for-year basis.)
