The Camera Sensing Device group is responsible for all research, design, development, test, and qualification of core technologies that enables revolutionary features on Apple products, such as FaceID and LiDAR Scanner.


Key Qualifications

  • Hands-on experience with electrical or photonic semiconductor devices, including design, process, packaging, characterization, or testing. - Proficiency in programming or numerical computational software such as Matlab, Python for test data analysis/processing or simulation - Proficiency with lab instrumentation and bench-level components, including SMU, OSA, camera, lens, or oscilloscope.
  • Demonstrated capability to work with international teams and lead global suppliers.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, and social skills.
  • Work experience in a wafer fab environment is a plus.
  • Experience with statistical analysis software such as JMP a plus.
  • Understanding of computer vision techniques and/or machine learning is a plus.
  • Experience with semiconductor lasers or LEDs is a big plus.


Description

Key Responsibilities: 
Develop Apple's next generation photonic devices for camera system and optical sensing applications. 
Perform optical simulation of devices 
Perform bench-level experiments with prototypes, data analysis and summary, to guide the larger organization with data driven decisions. 
Process integration of development projects. 
Close collaboration with external semiconductor suppliers, as well as characterization labs.
Provide written documentation of procedures, setups, and experimental results, with strong attention to details. 
Cross-functional Responsibilities: 
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Process Engineering, Optical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering to deliver innovative solutions. 
20-30% international travel expected.


Education

B.S in Optics, Physics, Material Science or Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience
