Analyst at Cornerstone Research

THE ANALYST ROLE
As an Analyst, you will play an important role at Cornerstone Research. You will join the firm as a generalist, providing you the opportunity to work on projects (cases) that span multiple practice areas, including antitrust, finance, consumer fraud and product liability, securities, accounting, and more. Our case teams range in size and typically include an academic or industry expert, senior consultants, and other Analysts. Within a case team, you will make important contributions during all phases of a project—from developing case strategy to conducting complex analyses to preparing experts for testimony. There’s something new to learn every day.

WHAT DOES CASE WORK AT CORNERSTONE RESEARCH LOOK LIKE?
We are all about teamwork. Our Analysts do not travel to work onsite with clients; almost all work is performed out of our local offices or remotely. This means that you will be working alongside your peers regularly, even if you are not working on the same cases. When it comes to case work, you can expect the following:
·      As a new Analyst, you will be working on multiple cases simultaneously. This is to provide you with ample opportunity to develop your skillset and determine the type of work you enjoy
  • Most cases have quantitative and qualitative elements, though some will be heavier on the quantitative side and others heavier on the qualitative side
  • Each Cornerstone office has a Staffing & Development Manager, a dedicated professional who oversees your case assignments with an eye toward your professional development goals
  • You will have opportunities to interact with senior consultants, academic experts, and law firm clients
  • Key responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
o  Developing financial and economic models
o  Working with/cleaning large datasets
o  Examining market and industry behavior
o  Conducting research via academic articles and relevant literature
o  Reviewing written reports for accuracy
o  Presenting findings to colleagues and clients
ANALYST DEVELOPMENT
From day one, there is a strong emphasis on equipping you with the information, training, and resources to help you succeed. Your time at the firm will begin with a comprehensive orientation and training program to introduce you to the firm and help you get integrated. Additionally, we host continuous learning and development programs through which you will learn sophisticated analytical and statistical techniques used in your day-to-day case work, as well as soft skills that will help you successfully work with case teams, clients, and experts.

Shortly after arriving at the firm, you will meet your Staffing & Development Manager and join your first case teams. Concurrently, the firm offers many opportunities for Analysts to participate in, and often take a leadership role over, firm initiatives outside of case work. From social committees to affinity groups to volunteer programs to recruiting, there is something for everyone. Your experience as an Analyst will be well-rounded.

LONG-TERM GROWTH
We value the long-term professional growth of our Analysts and recognize their contributions to casework and the firm. The analytical depth of our assignments and breadth of industry exposure serves as outstanding preparation for graduate school. In addition to the experience casework provides, we offer multiple resources for those applying to top graduate programs in business, economics, and law. Many people also choose to stay at Cornerstone – a number of our senior consultants, including Partners, started their careers as Analysts.
