RSI EnTech, LLC is recruiting for an Education Specialist. This position will support the nationwide STEM with LM program (70%) and locally the interpretive center operations at the Atomic Legacy Cabin (30%). The Education Specialist provides subject matter expertise in writing curriculum and leading science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) education projects. At the cabin, they will host public tours and participate in related public engagement and outreach strategies and events, including staffing the Atomic Legacy Cabin during public hours.
This position is required to travel locally 25% of the time.
Primary responsibilities and essential functions:
  • Provide subject matter expertise, write curriculum and activities, and lead projects within the STEM with LM program.
  • Conduct research with original historic documents and objects.
  • Contribute to the development of web and social media content.
  • Create temporary displays in support of visitor experiences.
  • Provide excellent professional customer service for both the public and internal team members.
  • Review scientific and technical resources for use in programs.
  • Write lesson plans and curriculum that are in alignment with the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS).
  • Write scripts and create videos in cooperation with videographers.
  • Develop and host onsite, offsite, and virtual experiences and programs for schools, youth and adult groups, stakeholders, and the general public.
  • Directly support events such as Nuclear Science Week, Ute Water-Children's Water Festival, Earth Day, and similar Grand Junction, CO area events.
  • Collaborate with other departments to create graphic displays and self-guided educational products.
  • Staff the Atomic Legacy Cabin during public visiting hours.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Effectively communicate and write lesson plans and activities about topics of history and STEM subject areas that align to NGSS.
  • Ability to work with the public in many educational settings both in person and virtually with a wide diversity in audiences.
  • Ability to present interpretive programs; engage and communicate with audiences; and support special events.
  • Strong organization and project management skills.
  • Proven problem-solving, decision-making, and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to communicate complex information with diverse technical and nontechnical stakeholder groups.

Technical knowledge, certifications/licenses, and software proficiency required:

  • Strong attention to detail and quality.
  • Valid driver’s license.
Desirable qualifications, experience, or proficiencies of the ideal candidate:
  • National Association for Interpretation certification.
  • Familiarity working as a contractor for the U.S. government.
  • Knowledge of the U.S. Department of Energy Office of Legacy Management.
Required Education and Years of Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree in Education, or a related field.
Experience in teaching role.
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:
