Equipment Maintenance Mechanic-Production


The Manufacturing Equipment Mechanic – Production Equipment position is responsible for performing preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and maintaining aseptic manufacturing equipment and supporting cleanroom utilities, and all plant utility equipment. As the Production Equipment Mechanic you will work closely with manufacturing associates inside the aseptic environment. You will have added ownership over activities related to equipment and physical plant construction, installation, alteration, and maintenance supporting a GMP production facility.

This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.
 

Essential job duties
  • Troubleshoot, and maintain aseptic manufacturing equipment and supporting utilities including but not limited to aseptic filling system, autoclave, formulation vessels, lyophilizer, RO/DI/WFI supply, clean steam, compressed gases, and other clean manufacturing systems.
  • Support maintenance and troubleshooting of all plant utility equipment including, but not limited to, HVAC, chillers, boilers, electrical, clean utilities, compressed gases, low voltage electrical, control systems.
  • Assist other technicians with equipment training and basic troubleshooting
  • Perform small electrical tasks including, but not limited to, lighting replacement, small wire pulls, and work related to low, medium, and high voltage
  • Read and understand electrical schematics and ladder logic
  • Respond to facility and equipment alarms and system failures utilizing BMS system and visual inspection in the field
  • Coordinate with supervisors and contractors for major work, additional troubleshooting or any other process issues that require additional repairs and or support
  • Perform work in any of the following areas; maintenance, electrical work, heating and refrigeration maintenance, metal work, painting, pest control, pipefitting, plumbing, sheet metal work, and related mechanical and trade work.
  • Complete PMs by assigned due dates
  • Properly utilize the web-based maintenance work order system, ensure proper reporting on work orders assigned and completed.
  • Support engineering staff during equipment specification, installation, startup, testing, and qualification
  • Comply with site safety procedures and policies including, but not limited to, LOTO, task specific PPE, and best practices for safe work. 
 
Education, experience, certification and licensures
Required
  • High school education or equivalent
  • 2-5 years’ relevant experience (level to be determined upon experience).
  • Valid Driver’s license
  • Aseptic gown qualification for ABCD cleanroom (OTJ training provided)

Preferred

  • Associate’s degree or equivalent in related field from 2-year college or technical school
  • Experience in a GMP manufacturing environment
  • Previous aseptic gown qualification for ABCD cleanroom 
 
 
Knowledge, skills and abilities
 

  • Ability to follow SOP and be ABCD gown qualified to work inside aseptic manufacturing cleanroom
  • Ability to identify emergency situations and report to appropriate personnel
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, technical writing and instructions
  • Demonstrate knowledge of standard methods, practices, tools and materials used in several maintenance trades
  • Willingness to expand knowledge with on-the-job training to provide coverage for Curia specific equipment and facilities related maintenance.
  • Ability to identify gaps in knowledge and participate in career development to drive growth.
  • Ability to apply basic math concepts
  • Familiarity with MS Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Ability to organize time in order to successfully manage multiple projects and priorities
  • Effective inter-personal relation skills, while maintaining the adaptability to achieve company goals
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with plant maintenance, engineering staff and other departments as needed

The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision and depth perception. Incumbent may be required to obtain/qualify for and maintain the clearance to wear a respirator at a “class B” level or above following OSHA mandated guidelines.
