Status: Full-Time
FLSA: Non-Exempt
Schedule: 10:00am – 4:00pm on Saturday/Sunday and three weekdays.

RSI EnTech, LLC is recruiting for an Interpretive Specialist to join our team of three other Interpretive Specialist at our Weldon Spring site. This position will support the Interpretive Center operations at the Weldon Spring Site in St. Charles, Missouri through staffing public weekend and weekday hours, leading projects, developing and hosting public programs, hosting public tours, and participating in related public engagement and outreach strategies and events.

Primary responsibilities and essential functions:
·        Provides coverage at the Weldon Spring Site during weekend open hours, 10:00am – 4:00pm Saturday and Sunday.
·        Develop and host onsite, offsite, and virtual experiences and programs for schools, youth and adult groups, stakeholders, and the general public.
·        Welcomes weekend guests and provides orientation to the site and brief tours on request.
·        Provides and supports weekend programming and activities.
·        Provide excellent professional customer service for both the public and internal team members.
·        Provide subject matter expertise, write curriculum and activities, and lead projects within the STEM with LM program.
·        Serve as project lead to write lesson plans, create videos in cooperation with videographers, write video scripts, create graphic displays and self-guided visitor products in cooperation with graphic designers, develop web and social media content consistent with methods defined by the National Association for Interpretation.
·        Conduct ecological observations and research for the purpose of use in programs, temporary displays, tours, and other visitor experiences.
·        Directly support events such as Monarch Madness, Earth Day, and similar St. Charles, Missouri area events.
·        Conduct research with original historic documents and objects.
·        Provide interpretive tours of exhibit gallery and disposal cell.
·        Review scientific and technical resources for use in programs.
·        Staff the front desk in rotation with other co-workers during public visiting hours.
·        Operate as the lead within established incident command structure when Interpretive Center Manager and other site lead staff are not present.

Technical knowledge, certifications/licenses, and software proficiency required:
·        Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
·        Proficiency with virtual program platforms
·        Strong attention to detail and quality.
·        Valid unrestricted driver’s license.
 
Required Education and Years of Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Interpretation, Communication, Public Affairs, Science, History, or a related field.
 
Desirable qualifications, experience, or proficiencies of the ideal candidate:
·        Experience in teaching or training role.
·        Familiarity with the Next Generation Science Standards
·        National Association for Interpretation “Certified Interpretive Guide” certification or related training
·        Familiarity working as a contractor for the U.S. government.
·        Knowledge of the U.S. Department of Energy Office of Legacy Management.
·        Proficiency with SharePoint
·        3 years of experience providing interpretive and/or educational programming.
 
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:
The employee exerts up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. The employee is regularly required to use hands to handle or feel, to reach with hands and arms, and to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to sit and occasionally required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
 
The employee is regularly required handle or feel, to reach, and communicate. The employee is frequently required to move about and maintain various positions. The employee must have the ability to perceive the environment and observe technical material and emails.
