Senior Category Analyst

PURPOSE
Supports Product Directors in ensuring cost, availability, innovation, growth and quality according to target setting and category requirements per given market. Develops and recommends advanced strategies to ensure that cost, growth and quality targets are met on entire spend categories. This position typically works under limited supervision and direction.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Directly impacts sourcing strategy by applying current supplier market dynamics/intelligence.
  • Collaborates with leadership, fie managements, and internal support functions to ensure alignment across managements, and internal support functions to ensure alignment
across the organization, anticipates and articulates changes, and drives activities based on supply market changes.
  • Excels in solving both conceptual and analytical problems by developing and recommended solutions to advanced issues.
  • Design advanced sourcing strategies for individual subcategories outside of traditional levers.
  • Optimizes sourcing strategies and business needs by collaborating with procurement and business units/functional areas on specific product groups and categories.
  • Maintain industry partnerships to support supplier and customer relationships to ensure highest level of productivity. Participants in key negotiations and awards by providing
  • market insights and other relevant data. Supports supplier recognition by providing key performance indicators for review.
  • Develop specific strategic goals and KPIs for cost and maturity on a subcategory level.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge,
skill or ability required.

  • Bachelor’s degree, in materials management, business administration, supply chain, or related field
  • 6 years’ experience in diverse buying activities.

 COMPETENCIES

  • Knowledge of proposal evaluation and proven ability to negotiate effectively. Comprehensive knowledge of material management and procurement function for assigned categories.
  • Ability to provide workable solutions to a wide variety of subcontractor/customer challenges.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability
  • Strong written and oral communication skills for interface with all levels of management, both internally and externally.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong analytical skills to interpret data, metrics, and analyze trends.

PREFERRED TRAINING/CERTIFICATIONS
  • NAPM courses and CPM preferred.
  • MBA preferred

  • Subject to both typical office environment and outside locations with temperature and weather variations.
