Forest Project Manager

Recruitment: Forest Project Manager, California Chapter
The Forest Project Manager is responsible for supporting the team’s efforts to expedite the planning and implementation of strategic and large-scale forest restoration and adaptation projects, including the expanded use of controlled burns. This role will represent The Nature Conservancy’s mission, in the communities where we work and require a person who can cultivate new relationships with tribal leaders, water managers and entrepreneurs, among others. The Project Manager for example, will initially work to establish a new California fire team and expand prescribed fire training across California, by providing logistical and project management support. This role will also work with TNC’s scientists, policy experts and economists to support the development of market-based conservation solutions (e.g., lowering insurance premiums by using ecological forestry, incentivizing clean and less carbon intensive use of forest restoration byproducts). Lastly, the Project Manager is expected to engage in the evaluation and improvement of in field forest restoration practices, including the development of state and federal policies, securing and managing new sources of funding, and evaluating the potential for new strategic partnerships, in consultation with members of a large, multidisciplinary team.
