Associate Consultant (Management Consulting)

Role: Full-time

Location: Austin, TX (preferred); remote considered with some occasional travel required as needed (~2-3 days a month)

Timing: Position starting Sep-Oct 2023

 

Position Overview:

In this Associate Consulting (AC) role, you will be responsible for a combination of research, analysis, synthesis, presentation creation, project management, client engagement (e.g., interviews, workshops), targeted business development (e.g., webinars), and administrative tasks and will work with every member of our team (other ACs, Sr. ACs, Founding Partner, EA). This is a high-performance management consulting role that combines daily team problem solving sessions, client interactions and read-outs, and significant time to independently drive your own workstreams (e.g., analysis, presentation creation).

Successful ACs define hypotheses quickly, thoroughly and thoughtfully gather and analyze data to confirm hypotheses, enjoy interacting with (and learning from) other team members and clients, and love a challenge. Within your first two years at Redwood, you will:

– Significantly deepen your understanding of various industries and key business skills (e.g., strategic planning, project management)
– Tackle and solve a number of challenging problems for important clients
– Make an important presentation to C-suite executives
– Interact with clients on a daily basis, with limited to no supervision
– Be trusted to drive and complete key project workstreams (e.g., market sizing, PPT decks, interviews)
– Consistently identify the highest value, most relevant insights and takeaways from targeted research, interviews, and analysis
– Develop skills for best-practice decision-making on high-stakes initiatives and projects
– Take the lead on key deliverables and manage your own workstreams and potentially project 
 

Key responsibilities include:
– Compiling key data (e.g., desk research, interviews) on a market or topic and synthesizing into key insights (e.g., market size, growth prospects, key segments)
– Managing core projects and workstreams (e.g., identifying key next steps, conducting key analyses, reviewing and sharpening analyses) & stakeholder engagement (e.g., scheduling interviews, etc.)
– Independently generating rigorous, well-researched insights, recommendations, and next steps
–  Gathering and analyzing basic financial information (e.g., annual reports, internal statements, 10-Ks) and identifying trends and insights (e.g., margin growth)
– Creating executive level presentation materials (e.g., PowerPoint presentations, Excel models)
– Identifying and executing on key business development opportunities (e.g., industry partner scans, webinars, reports, LinkedIn articles)

 

Qualifications:

– Previous work experience valued but not required

 

Additional Details:
– All candidates with substantial degree programs (e.g., Economics, Engineering, History, Biology) and a strong academic record given equal consideration; business majors not required
– All candidates should include their GPA and graduation year on their resume
– PowerPoint and Excel skills valued but not required (training will be provided)
– Willing to work 8-10+ hour days depending on project needs
