GIS Programmer/ Analyst

Work Unit Overview: The County Geographic Information System (GIS)/Mapping Department analyzes, manipulates, and displays data in geographic context to assist decision-makers by providing an additional tool to analyze and compare numerous geographic data layers along with traditional databases. The GIS/Mapping Department enables users to access the County’s GIS data interactively and quickly, view various data layers, see tabular information related to the layers, and print maps.
 
Job Summary: The GIS Programmer/Analyst is responsible for providing professional GIS support including programming, automating, planning and administering GIS systems development activities such as database and software development, system administration (e.g., performance monitoring, security control, etc.) and troubleshooting to ensure GIS systems are operating efficiently and accurately. The position is responsible for maintaining the online display of geographic information. Duties also include designing and producing data and maps, maintaining related data management functions and performing other duties.
