Key Roles
This position performs technical tasks in support of the Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA), Energy Management System (EMS), and Revenue and Real-time Metering systems used to monitor, control, and perform billing related to the EKPC electric generation and transmission system.
Key Responsibilities
Assists in implementing and maintaining EMS applications including SCADA, energy scheduling and accounting, ICCP data links, and interfaces to external systems.
Acts as a backup for the Meter Data Coordinator in the performance of operation and maintenance of revenue and real-time metering functionality including meter data translation software used to perform these functions.
Designs, codes, tests, debugs, documents, and maintains operations related software applications.
Supports 24x7 real-time control system integrity for EKPC.
Accumulates, analyzes, and prepares reports using power system and energy accounting data.
Communicates with technicians performing SCADA and metering installation and repairs.
Coordinates with System Operators and analyzes requests for updates to the SCADA/EMS.
Performs troubleshooting, analysis, and resolution of problems on EKPC's SCADA/EMS.
Performs troubleshooting, analysis, and resolution of problems with revenue and real-time metering.
Provides technical assistance in network planning, engineering, and architecture of the SCADA/EMS and related systems.
Assists in coordinating and supporting the use of full-graphics display sub-system to draw and update complex system one-line diagrams for use by EKPC and member cooperative System Operators.
Communicates activity status on assigned projects to customers and management.
Maintains technical expertise and awareness of field equipment including RTUs, metering, and relaying through working relationships with relevant teams.
Maintains awareness and complies with NERC Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP) and 693 standards and procedures as they relate to control systems.
Works on multiple projects, with assistance, including the preparation of job status reports on projects for review.
Interfaces with vendors to identify and purchase hardware and software in support of SCADA, EMS, and metering functionality, as needed.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Key Requirements
Education
Bachelor's degree in a related area. An equivalent combination of education and experience may substitute.
CCNA/CompTIA Network+ Certification useful.
Microsoft Administrator, Solution Architect, Security and/or Data Engineer certifications useful.
Skills and Abilities
Competent to perform database management and programming activities using MS SQL and Acess.
Experience with programming languages. C/C++ and variants preferred.
Extensive knowledge of PC and network hardware/software in a multi-protocol environment, and network management software.
Proficient knowledge in the setup of Cisco firewalls.
Ability to learn and gain working knowledge of the EMS architecture, including real-time computer equipment as applied to the control of a power generation and transmission system.
Ability to read and interpret software design specifications and user manuals.
Demonstrates good interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate with other contacts, both inside and outside the Cooperative.
Proficient written and oral communication skills (e.g. reports, emails).
Must have the ability to think logically and creatively and to understand instructions on specific objectives, complex features, and possible solutions.
Must have the ability to plan, schedule, conduct, and coordinate assigned work activities with limited direction.
Must have thorough data analysis and problem solving abilities.
Proficient use of Microsoft Office and other common business applications required.

This is primarily an inside position with usual office conditions. Regular lifting up to 20 lbs. with occasional lifting up to 50 lbs. required.
Occasional travel required.
