Full-Time Applied Math Associate

Matrix Sensors, Inc. is seeking an independent, motivated individual to bring on to our engineering team . This intern would report directly to the VP Engineering at our San Diego, CA facility. We offer full benefits and a competitive salary.

Specific responsibilities may include:
  • Assist in the development of mathematical models for sensors
  • Perform sensor testing and analyze results
  • Write scripts in Python for data analysis and model fitting
  • Routine workup of sensor test data
  • Developing automated data processing scripts
  • Documenting and testing new software applications
  • Collaborating with engineers and scientists on other projects as-needed

Desired skills include:
  • Python (required), C++ (optional), LabView (optional)
  • Proficiency in one major computer algebra system (e.g. Mathematica, Maple)
  • Experience with functional programming is a plus
  • Optimizing algorithms for speed and/or memory usage
  • Software test and debugging skills
  • Self-motivated and results-oriented
  • Great attention to detail
  • Proactive problem-solving
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment

  • Bachelor's degree in physics, chemistry, or an engineering field with physics courses
  • Master's degree is preferred but not required
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
  • Must be able to work in-person in San Diego, CA
