Intern - Technical Writer Intern - Summer 2023 - Nationwide, Remote

The Main Responsibilities

The Technical Writer Intern will be responsible for producing high-quality, compelling, and compliant technical content to guide and educate customers based on research, interviewing and partnering with subject matter experts
The Main Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for the day-to-day direction and development of proposal team resources, developing and maintaining processes designed to meet the sales/customer requirements, and to work with different business units and leadership to prioritize proposal workload
  • Partner with solutions architects/engineers shaping our content for Lumen products and services while communicating the technical aspects of our engineering products to both highly technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Create well written, compliant and compelling responses to RFPs, RFIs, and white papers
  • Own and drive projects independently, meet deadlines defined by Proposal Management, while sharing your work frequently in critiques/reviews.
  • Research existing documentation for applicable responses and customizing to specific opportunity and agency. 
  • Analysis of technical scope, program requirements, and contractual implications; development of win strategies and themes
  • Work at both a detailed level and a strategic level 
  • Provide recommendations on response strategy given a variety of factors.
  • Manage content, formatting responses to align with corporate brand standards

What We Look For in a Candidate

  • Education Requirements
  • Enrolled at a 4-year accredited college or university, rising senior or master’s level education status at the start of the internship, graduating August 2023 – May 2024.
  • Major/Degree: In pursuit of degree in English, Communications, or similar degree field.
  • Proficiency and understanding of;
  • Ability to consult with subject matter experts from engineering, support, and product management.
  • Experience in creating documentation for audiences with different levels of technical skill.
  • Planning, researching, writing, and revising printed and online documentation, including general overviews, tutorials, installation/configuration instructions, training class materials, and documentation.

  • Intern must be able to work 30-40 hours be week during the 10-week program (June – August)
