Vehicle Logistics Trainee (VLT) Program

Toyota Logistics Services (TLS) is looking for highly motivated and qualified Vehicle Logistics Trainees (VLT). The VLT Program will provide you with an enhanced understanding of vital areas of our business. The duration of the program is up to 18-months and will take place at a TLS Vehicle Distribution Center (VDC). During this program, you will discover how our company interfaces with customers and business partners during day-to-day operations. You can witness the key interplay of the Toyota Way and Toyota Production System (TPS) with safety, associate relations, production scheduling, vehicle logistics, parts, quality, and kaizen. Finally, you'll be given the opportunity to employ the new skills you have acquired throughout the program.

A successful candidate will have:
·      Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics/Operations Management, Industrial Engineering or related degree is required with a GPA of 2.7 or higher.
·      Possess a high degree of written and verbal communication skills.
·      Proficient in MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint
·      Candidate must be willing to relocate
·      Have lawful unlimited authorization to work in the U.S. without sponsorship now and in the future

Key Responsibilities:
 
Rotational assignments at a VDC are designed to provide you with hands-on learning, leadership opportunities, and business insight. In addition, you will receive core standardized training courses.
 
Logistics Rotation (up to 3-month rotation): The focus of the vehicle Logistics rotation will be the structure of Toyota Motor Sales and Toyota Logistics Services, interface of TLS with logistic partners and the sales organization, and the daily operations of TLS
 
Production Support Rotations (up to 3-month rotation in each area): The focus areas of the Production Support rotations will be on Parts, quality, and Kaizen/Toyota Production System.
 
Production Supervision Rotation (up to 6-month rotation at Port Long Beach/Newark/Portland; up to 9 month rotation at other Locations): The focus of the Production Supervision rotation will be the development of supervisory and leadership skills in your interactions with the hourly production workforce at the facility. You will utilize the skills and knowledge gained in previous rotations, develop human resources and associate relations experience, learn about vehicle production planning and scheduling, and contribute to the achievement of the VDC's Safety, Quality, Customer Satisfaction, Efficiency, and Cost objectives.
