As a GPCOG Data Analyst you’ll be part of the team reshaping our region as it emerges from the pandemic and takes advantage of new and exciting opportunities. Data is central to GPCOG’s work, whether we’re compiling/analyzing transportation data (e.g. transit ridership, vehicular crash data), aggregating socioeconomic and demographic information, or understanding the impacts of climate change on our communities and vulnerable infrastructure. 

The Data Analyst will work closely with directors, managers, and staff on a wide range of projects and informing decisions about housing, transportation, economic development, and sustainability, and deliver high quality, accessible documents, web pages, and other materials.

What you’ll do
  • Develop analyses, data, maps, infographics, and other visuals to support agency’s planning, member services, and communications work such as tracking progress on expanded housing choice, development of the five-year economic development strategy, evaluate transportation projects, provide data and mapping support, and writing technical reports and memos for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Support the development of the PACTS five-year Long Range Transportation Plan (LRTP) and provide annual updates on its performance measures, including population and employment forecasts, coordinating with the travel demand model consultant, and managing a regional database of new building permits.
  • Support the communications team by creating interactive maps or data visualizations, supporting GPCOG and other project-specific websites, creating and updating web pages and uploading documents, coordinate domains for specific project, and manage the GPCOG online Document Center.
  • Perform contract data, mapping, and related work with municipalities.

 What you bring
  •  Bachelor’s degree and/or master’s degree in mathematics, statistics, computer science, public policy, public administration, or another related discipline from an accredited college or university.
  • One (1) or more years of relevant professional data management experience.
  • Knowledgeable about sources and uses of data relevant to the agency’s mission; ability to analyze and synthesize large amounts of data from various sources to provide meaningful information and insight.
  • Proficient in the use of spreadsheets, databases, mapping, and data visualization tools.
  • Motivated and organized, able to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Able to work effectively as part of one or more teams simultaneously.
  • Superior written and oral communications and presentation skills.
  • Any equivalent combination of education and experience that demonstrates possession of the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

 What to know
  •  The Data Analyst is a professional administrative position reporting to the Planning Director.
  • Driving, occasional travel, and extended hours are required.
  • GPCOG offers competitive benefits, a fun, flexible, and creative work environment, and an expected annual salary in the $40s to around $50k depending on qualifications and experience, with the potential for future adjustments based on performance.
