Restoration Manager (Ecological restoration)

RES is looking for a Restoration Manager with 5+ years of experience based out of our Buffalo NY office
 
The mission: taking on 10-20 projects at the same time, you will manage upland and wetland restoration, and invasive species management projects, overseeing the projects from the beginning to end, including managing staff, schedules, and technical direction, and project QA/QC.
To thrive in this role, you need to possess COMMUNICATION skills, as you will be in constant contact with direct reports, subcontractors, corporate staff, clients, and regulators, all speaking different “technical languages”; and RELATIONSHIP BUILDING skills, as you will be a front face to the regulatory bodies at RES’s project sites.


What your day-to-day might look like?

30% of the time, you will be on the field, overseeing the projects you are assigned to, and managing the technical field team that includes Restoration Supervisors, Restoration Technicians, and, occasionally, third party science consultants. You will oversee all aspects of project QA/QC.
 
70% of the time, you will be in the office, supporting the projects, through adequate staffing and budgeting, reviewing and ordering project materials and CAPEX, submitting permits relevant to the projects, and updating projects in the system.
 
You will also review project opportunities and develop with estimating proposal team, and Client Solutions Manager, and interact with regulatory authorities, making sure their requirements are met.

Qualifications

  • BA/BS Biology, Environmental Science, Ecology, Geology, Hydrology, Agricultural Science, or similar Science
  • Experience in ecological restoration
  • Experience in project management
  • Knowledge of principles of environmental permitting,
  • Experience in construction oversight and compliance
