Intern - Billing Software Engineer- Summer 2023 - Broomfield, CO or Remote

The Main Responsibilities

Lumen is searching for a Software Engineer Intern to join our development team for the summer of 2023 supporting our suite of billing applications. This person will partner in an agile team environment to develop code, test, and debug new software or enhancements to existing software. Develop solutions across many disciplines and be responsible for explaining solutions and procedures. Apply principles, theories and concepts and use methodologies, tools, documentation processes and test procedures to complete projects

  • Partner in an Agile Scrum team environment to be able to develop code, test, debug and support in production new software or enhancements to existing software
  • Work closely with the technical staff to create solutions that meet business and technical requirements
  • Collaborate with product developers in a fast-moving agile team to define and implement effective and efficient automated tests
  • Document own work to promote transparency and reuse
  • Build unit tests, debug integration issues and deploy emergency patches as needed
  • Build production-quality enterprise-grade systems that achieve target SLAs for scalability, reliability, and performance on schedule
  • Accountability for successfully completing assignments or tasks; making clear, specific commitments to deliver results
 

What We Look For in a Candidate

  • Pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in an IT-related degree program such as CIS or Computer Science.
  • Enrolled at a 4-year accredited college or university; [junior or senior level] education status at the start of the internship
  • Minimum Cumulative GPA: 3.0 or higher
  • Candidates are expected to exhibit critical thinking skills and time management/prioritization skills
  • Detail oriented
  • Familiarity with various database management packages like Oracle, MSSQL
  • Familiarity with Visual Studio and C# development
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite 
  • Highly motivated, organized, reliable and detail oriented
  • Quick learner and not afraid to work with new technology
  • Strong problem-solving, time management, written and verbal communication skills
