Interested in joining us? RES is now accepting applications for a Grant Writer/ Proposals Manager for our Chicago, Illinois; Richmond, Virginia; or Houston, Texas office. This is a key position in our Sales team that will lead grant applications and proposal processes and help support our growing nationwide footprint.
 
You will have the opportunity to work with team members across departments and functions, providing proposal management, coordination and compilation of business information, prequalification and business registration applications, best practices, and stats on RES projects, forms, and proposal deliverables. Time management and attention to detail are essential for this position, as you will manage multiple deliverables simultaneously to meet their respective delivery timetables.

What your day-to-day might look like?

70% of your time, you will be producing and delivering grant applications, proposal documents, and statements of qualifications, making sure they are complete and consistent with RES and client goals and requirements. This means you will be developing, organizing, editing, formatting, and developing written content, graphics, and tables yourself, but also coordinating writing assignments and data collection among multiple authors. You will develop and compile resumes, project descriptions, standard and example text, and other information from a variety of internal and external databases. Be ready to showcase your outstanding written and verbal communication skills during the interview!
20% of the time you will be managing the grant application and proposals delivery logisticsThis means you will be organizing kick-off and planning calls and coordinating with stakeholders. The objective is to deliver applications and proposals that meet public sector clients’ procurement requirements during prequalification and application or bid submittal processes. This includes management of content and deadlines from external subcontractors.
You will also manage the content library, archiving and maintaining the organization of application and proposal content.
5% of your time, you will be managing internal timelines for prequalification and registration renewals. You will track and complete application portal accesses, vendor registrations, and prequalification statuses, renewals, and expiration dates.
5% of your time, you will be doing Knowledge management. This means you will be analyzing past processes to gather lessons learned and positive actions at the submittal of applications and proposals to enable process improvement and higher win rates. You will research and summarize client prequalification and procurement processes. You will then share your conclusions with the team.

Qualifications

We would love to talk to you if you have many of the following:
  • BS/BA with 5+ years related experience
  • Strong abilities using MS Office (MS Word, MS Excel, Adobe Suite, and MS PowerPoint)
  • Prior experience with state and federal applicable grant programs, DOT, and/or federal procurement experience
  • Prior experience with developing original/ written content for public sector grant applications and proposal pursuits, including federal pursuits
  • Prior experience with database management and digital file organization
 
 
What will make you stand out?
  • 5 years of grant applications, proposals, or project management/ business administration experience in an environmental consulting firm, non-profit watershed organization, or contracting/E&C company
  • Prior experience preparing federal standard forms and applications/ proposals for public sector clients, including federal clients such as USFWS, NOAA, USDA, USEPA, or USACE
  • Ability to decipher and extract information from corporate accounting financial statements and project budgets
  • Prior experience seeking grant funding for ecological restoration, nature-based projects
