Environmental Program Manager I - Assistant Director (JC-341704)

The State Water Board has an opening for an Environmental Program Manager I in its Office of Public Participation. 

The position will serve as the Assistant Director for the Office and will manage an interdisciplinary team. This position requires experience managing teams, implementing project management software, communicating effectively, establishing effective working relationships with a variety of technical and nontechnical audiences, and working with environmental justice communities and/or California Native American tribes. 

Full time, based in Sacramento with potential to telework with in-person attendance based on operational needs

The State Water Resources Control Board and the nine Regional Water Quality Control Boards (collectively the Water Boards) work to preserve, enhance, and restore the quality of California’s water resources and drinking water for the protection of the environment, public health, and all beneficial uses, and to ensure proper water resource allocation and efficient use, for the benefit of present and future generations. 

The Office of Public Participation ensures Water Boards decision-making processes involve the public and uplift the voices of environmental justice communities and California Native American tribes. The Office of Public Participation achieves this by designing and implementing effective stakeholder involvement processes, providing resources for language access, offering capacity building opportunities, and coordinating government-to-government tribal consultations.
