Directory Services Engineer / Information Technologist II

Position Summary

Reporting to the Senior Messaging and Collaboration Manager, the Directory Services Engineer is responsible for identity, authentication and authorization systems. The engineer will collaboratively support and improve a highly complex Active Directory and related hybrid environments while continuously evaluating and making recommendations for improvement of the technology landscapes, including areas such as system/software testing, monitoring, data scrubbing and migration, software deployment, etc.

Unit Specific Education/Experience/Skills

Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a four-year college degree program; three to five years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in an information technology area related to the duties to be performed; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.


Desired Qualifications

  • Experience with Identity Management Systems such as SailPoint, Forefront Identity Manager, CA Identity Manager, Quest One Identity, etc.
  • Experience with Authentication Systems such as Active Directory, Kerberos and LDAP.
  • Experience with Single Sign-On Systems (SSO) such as Azure SSO, Microsoft Enterprise SSO, Oracle SSO, CA SSO, MSU’s Sentinel Single Sign-On, etc.
  • Experience with Identity Federation Systems such as Azure AD, ADFS, Shibboleth, Oracle Identity Federation, CA Federation, etc.
  • Experience with Multi-Factor Authentication Systems such as Symantec VIP, Duo Security, Google Authenticator, etc. 
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate in cross-functional and cross-departmental teams.
