Developing Hispanic-Serving Institutions (DHSI) Grant Project Director (VII) (50%)

Under the general direction of the Dean of Special Projects for First Year Experience (FYE) and Dual Enrollment, and in collaboration with the Associate Vice President of Instruction and College Initiatives and the Associate Vice President of Enrollment and Student Services, the Director (50%) provides leadership and oversight of SCC’s DHSI Caminos de la Ciudad (City Pathways) grant. This grant will help to continue the college’s Guided Pathways implementation efforts. The Director will focus on developing and implementing Next Steps involved in moving students from the college’s First Year Experience (FYE) program into and through the second year to completion or transfer; supporting institutionalization of Guided Pathways using an HSI and culturally responsive lens; facilitating collaboration between Instructional Services and Student Services to support students’ next steps; recruiting Freshman Seminar faculty and providing culturally responsive training to assist in creating plans to cohort and move students from the Freshman Seminar to the next semester; prioritizing retention, success, and completion outcomes for students, particularly those who are Latinx and low-income, in the Next Steps Program; hiring, supervising, and evaluating classified professionals to work with student cohorts throughout their educational journey; collaborating with supervisors, deans, and other administrators to ensure institutional support and integration; contracting with an external evaluator and with the PRIE office to complete external reporting requirements; overseeing budgets and financial reporting; writing and submitting reports as required.

This position will serve the Caminos de la Ciudad Next Steps Program.

Typical duties may include but are not limited to the following:

  • Hiring, supervising, and evaluating an administrative assistant, support specialists, and other classified professionals assigned to the Caminos de la Ciudad program;
  • Contracting and working with an external evaluator and conferring with the Dean of PRIE to assist with assessing and reporting on the Caminos de la Ciudad Program;
  • Coordinating and collaborating with areas involved in Caminos de la Ciudad, including (but not limited to) the First Year Experience (FYE) Program, Admissions and Records, Transfer Center, Career Services, and Counseling;
  • Recruiting, organizing, and leading a pilot group of faculty to develop meta-major-specific next steps plans;
  • Managing budgets and associated paperwork for the Caminos de la Ciudad Next Steps Program, including grant reporting, stipend forms, purchasing, and contracts;
  • Planning and administering program activities, including travel and events;
  • Providing regular updates to appropriate college administrators and constituency groups;
  • Writing and submitting required reports in a timely manner, and evaluating and amending Program as needed;
  • Other duties as assigned
