Cable Design and Production Specialist

We are seeking a Specialist to facilitate the design and build of cable harness assemblies. The role includes creating manufacturing drawings for cable assemblies and helping to facilitate cable builds for spacecraft and ground applications. A successful candidate will have a balance of technical and leadership skills necessary to effectively work with various engineering disciplines and service centers while achieving schedule milestones.

Key Responsibilities
  • Create cable drawings for flight and support harnesses to NASA standards
  • Work with the electrical engineering group to gather and develop specifications and design information
  • Create part kits for cable builds
  • Work with the technicians and QA to get the assemblies built, inspected, and delivered to the program
  • Manage the design and build schedule to stay compliant with the program need dates
  • Develop, maintain, and communicate regular program status reports for internal and external customers to monitor and report progress

Required Qualifications:
  • High School graduate, GED, or some higher education
  • Familiar with:
  • IPC- J-STD-001 Requirements for soldered electrical and electronic assemblies
  • NASA 8739.4 Workmanship Standard Crimping, Interconnecting Cables, Harnesses and Wiring – OR - IPC/WHMA-A-620 Requirements and Acceptance for Cable/Wire Harness Assemblies
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and be proficient in interacting in a cross functional department environment
  • Self-motivated, dependable, and detail oriented
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
  • Ability to identify and work through problems that may arise
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio)
  • Ability to work with other team members for completion of required tasks
  • Must be a US citizen and be able to obtain a US government security clearance

Preferred Qualifications:
  • 5+ years’ experience in electronics manufacturing and production
  • Experience working space programs
