Cable Design and Production Specialist

The role includes creating manufacturing drawings for cable assemblies and helping to facilitate cable builds for spacecraft and ground applications. A successful candidate will have a balance of technical and leadership skills necessary to effectively work with various engineering disciplines and service centers while achieving schedule milestones.

Key Responsibilities
- Create cable drawings for flight and support harnesses to NASA standards
- Work with the electrical engineering group to gather and develop specifications and design information
- Create part kits for cable builds
- Work with the technicians and QA to get the assemblies built, inspected, and delivered to the program
- Manage the design and build schedule to stay compliant with the program need dates
- Develop, maintain, and communicate regular program status reports for internal and external customers to monitor and report progress
Required Qualifications:
- High School graduate, GED, or some higher education
- Familiar with:
- IPC- J-STD-001 Requirements for soldered electrical and electronic assemblies
- NASA 8739.4 Workmanship Standard Crimping, Interconnecting Cables, Harnesses and Wiring – OR - IPC/WHMA-A-620 Requirements and Acceptance for Cable/Wire Harness Assemblies
- Strong verbal and written communication skills and be proficient in interacting in a cross functional department environment
- Self-motivated, dependable, and detail oriented
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
- Ability to identify and work through problems that may arise
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio)
- Ability to work with other team members for completion of required tasks
- Must be a US citizen and be able to obtain a US government security clearance
Preferred Qualifications:
- 5+ years’ experience in electronics manufacturing and production
- Experience working space programs
