SET THE COURSE

The Apparel Design Intern will be a part of the Men’s, Women’s or Swim’s Design team helping deliver on cross-functional projects that support the research and ideation for product development.  The Intern will have the opportunity to interact with teams involved in design, product management and merchandising, sourcing, and sustainability.

The Internship will last approximately 8 weeks during summer break timeframe. The start date of the internship will be June 12th.
  • This is a paid internship opportunity. This role is not eligible for benefits.

BE THE ISLAND GUIDE
  • Assists Designer to develop specific classifications within the Tommy Bahama line for upcoming season(s).
  • Assists Designer in researching fashion trends that will translate for the Tommy Bahama guest.
  • Prepares presentation boards as needed.
  • Assists in creating Illustrator Sketches for garment styling and updates as necessary for Tech Packs.
  • Assists in developing construction specifications and updates as necessary for Tech Packs.
  • Assists in filling sketches with color, print, and pattern.
  • Assists in building style pyramids for meeting presentations (Women’s).
  • Assists in keeping style data up to date in PLM.
  • Assists with Lab Dip requests and receipts, reviewing lab dips in light box upon receipt from TBGS partners, learning to comment on color improvements needed.
  • Assists with set-up of artwork numbers in PLM.
  • Assists with development of Yarn Dye, Embroidery and Embellishment development cards.
  • Assists in reviewing Yarn Dye, Embroidery and Embellishment submits from vendors, learns to identify improvements needed and how to communicate those to vendor.
  • Attends Milestone Meetings (sample reviews/adoptions) with Design team, assists in presentations as requested.
  • Attends Fit Sessions to learn process and assist in note taking and follow-up.
  • Flexible for other duties as needed to help support the overall business. 

ESSENTIALS FOR LIFE IN PARADISE
An expected graduation date of December 2022 or Spring 2023 in Fashion Design or related degree.
  • Knowledge of material and garment construction
  • Experience in building compelling visual tools. (Adobe illustrator, Power Point, Boards, etc.)
  • Self-starter attitude and the ability to be a team player within a fast-paced team
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Strong organization and multi-tasking skills
  • Strong information seeking-skills and a drive to make things happen
  • Ability to clearly articulate goals and objectives
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a diverse group
