Network Technician (4717 - IT - Technical Support Analyst - Senior)

This position with on-call shifts is in the Information Technology Department.

Salary Grade: 58

The Pima County Information Technology Department is seeking a Network Technician for the County Classified Title of "ITD - Technical Support Analyst - Senior".

The working environment is team-oriented, technical, self-motivated, and meticulous. Communication skills are critical.

The architecture includes a high-performance core and data center environment built on leading-edge networking and security. The work involves everything needed to support reliable and efficient networking service for public-facing applications and staff in multiple departments across dozens of locations.

Responsibilities include installing, terminating, maintaining, and troubleshooting network hardware and cabling infrastructure including moves, adds, and changes of any network or related equipment. Manage work and priorities through a ticketing system and workflows to complete customer requests and projects. You will work closely with teammates and users to identify solutions and resolve issues.

This position may participate in the on-call rotation and off-hours maintenance.

(1) A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college, university or technical trade school with a major in computer science, computer engineering, management information systems (MIS), or a closely related field as determined by the appointing authority at the time of recruitment and two years of experience in the maintenance and administration of client computing or communications hardware and software infrastructure.
OR:
(2) An Associate's degree from an accredited college, university or technical trade school with a major in computer science, computer engineering, management information systems (MIS), or a closely related field as determined by the appointing authority at the time of recruitment and four years of work experience in information technology including two years of experience in the maintenance and administration of client computing or communications hardware and software infrastructure.
(Additional relevant work experience/education from an accredited college or university may be substituted.)

  2. Experience implementing and maintaining networking as well as security solutions.
  3. Experience working with and troubleshooting switching, routing, and wireless LAN solutions.
  4. Experience working with clients and teammates to resolve networking issues.
  5. Experience working with copper and fiber cabling infrastructure in an enterprise environment.
  6. Experience creating network documentation using Microsoft Office tools and Microsoft Visio.
