Mountain Bike Adventure Camps Coordinator

Position Overview:  
The Mountain Bike Adventure Camps Coordinator is the lead of all mountain bike activities led by NorthWoods Stewardship Center – based on Burke Mountain and Kingdom Trails. The Coordinator is the primary point of contact for participating families – including campers and their parents. Additionally, the Coordinator is the primary contact for communications with partner organizations – namely Burke Mountain and Kingdom Trails.  
The MTB Camps Coordinator both participates in leading camp activities and supervises the staff team. The Coordinator, through a collaborative team approach, determines daily schedules, and communicates needs with the staff and the support team at NorthWoods. The Coordinator role is supported by the summer camp team based out of NorthWoods, and reports directly to the Executive Director. The Coordinator oversees the daily success of the programs –maintaining a safe and positive environment for participants to learn, grow, and enjoy adventure on two wheels. This includes overseeing training, daily activities and evaluation.  
Responsibilities and Expectations:  
∙ Maintain good communication and professional working relationships with NorthWoods staff, program participants, partners, and the general public 
∙ Adhere to all NorthWoods procedures and policies related to staff conduct, safety and project implementation 
∙ Attend meetings, workshops and special events as necessary to represent NorthWoods and support mountain bike adventure programs. 
∙ Experience working with youth in the outdoors 
∙ Excellent communication and interpersonal skills 
∙ Capacity to facilitate small groups and attend to group dynamics to build a positive learning environment 
∙ Demonstrated leadership experience, including managing staff 
∙ Passion for outdoor recreation and desire to share the skills and experience with others ∙ Physical fitness and positive attitude to thrive in an outdoor setting for extended periods in varied weather and conditions 
∙ Demonstrated ability to problem-solve and adapt  
∙ Desire to share values of stewardship and sense of place through experience on bikes
Preferred Skills/Knowledge:
∙ Ability to mountain bike at an advanced level, comfortable in all cross-country terrain ∙ College degree  
∙ Safety-consciousness and situational awareness 
∙ Valid Driver’s License 
∙ Maintains high quality full suspension mountain bike and helmet

Employment Period: Flexible Start Date from May 1 – June 10, End date: August 15; seasonal position. 
Workweek: 40 hours per week, on average, typically M-F, with occasional weekend and evenings
Compensation: $18 – $20, paid bi-weekly, based on experience
Other Benefits: $250 Equipment Stipend 
Housing: Options may be available for on-campus housing; rental rates TBD
