Idaho Rare Plant Survey Crew Leader

The Conservation Research Program at the Institute for Applied Ecology (IAE) is partnering with the Cottonwood, Idaho field office of the Bureau of Land Management to conduct surveys for rare and sensitive plants in north-west Idaho.

Field work involves a variety of botanical survey methods, including electronic data collection. The Crew leader will supervise one field technician and work with IAE and BLM staff to manage field trip logistics, lead field work, and assist in data management and report completion. Staff can be based out of Cottonwood, Lewiston, Moscow in Idaho, or other location that is a reasonable distance from field sites (duty-station will be discussed upon hire).

Field work will be conducted on BLM land in the Cottonwood zone (see map on next page). Camping is required, and field work will consist of hitches of 3-4 days (with appropriate time before and after field work to plan logistics). Most work weeks are 4 10-hour workdays with 3-day weekends. Housing is not provided, but we will work with applicants to find reasonable housing options. An internet connection is required.
