The Los Angeles Regional Water Board’s Enforcement II Unit has an opening for an Environmental Scientist. The position is located at 320 West 4th Street, 2nd Floor, in Los Angeles, right in the heart of downtown across from subway metro stations, near the Metrolink train station and other public transportation.

Duties:
The Enforcement II Unit imposes the requirements in the State’s general storm water permits (industrial and construction) and the Los Angeles Region’s Clean Water Act Section 401 Water Quality Certifications. Duties include the preparation of various routine inspection reports, memos, permits, and formal and informal enforcement documents; participating in water quality site inspections and field sampling; reviewing laboratory data from dischargers, conducting inspections, documenting violations, technical report reviews, data analyses, oral presentations to the public and to the Los Angeles Water Board. An incumbent will navigate uneven, rugged terrain for extended periods of time while conducting inspections of facilities and construction sites, as well as carry equipment to the sampling locations, under various weather conditions.

Salary information – CalHR salary rules allow appointment at the entrance rate (Cal. Code Regs., tit. 2, § 599.673) of a classification. For classes with alternate ranges, placement is based on education/experience.
