Environmental Specialist II (Stormwater Inspector) – P4438 & P4434
Richmond, Virginia
Hiring Salary Range: $50,811 – $85,000
 
The Virginia Department of Environmental Quality, Piedmont Regional Office, seeks a qualified individual to conduct compliance inspections for private, state, and federal projects submitted in accordance with the Virginia Stormwater Management and the Virginia Erosion and Sediment Control Programs. This selected candidate will conduct compliance inspections on construction sites to ensure compliance with erosion and sediment control, annual standards and specifications, and Construction General Permitted sites. This position will be essential in assisting local stormwater program implementation. Participation in the erosion and sediment control and stormwater management classes as an instructor will be included in the duties of the selected candidate. This position requires Erosion and Sediment Control and Stormwater Management Inspector certification within 12 months of employment. The necessary training for these certifications are to be provided by DEQ.

Environmental Specialist II (Biosolids Permit Supervisor) – P4362
Richmond, Virginia
Hiring Salary Range:  $70,000 - $95,000
 
The Virginia Department of Environmental Quality's Office of Land Application Programs is seeking a qualified candidate to supervise, plan, administer, organize, and manage the biosolids permitting program within the Office of Land Application Programs, which includes issuance, reissuance and modification of VPA permits for generation, land application, and storage of biosolids and industrial residuals; develops VPDES permit conditions for generation and storage of biosolids; identifies problems and needs, sets work tasks and schedules, allocates staff and other resources; provides technical/regulatory guidance to regional and central office biosolids permit program staff; reviews draft permits; approves applications for approval of new biosolids sources; develops and implements guidance, permit procedures, policies and regulations in order to ensure the issuance of consistent, legal, accurate and technically acceptable permits; trains DEQ staff and land appliers; provides superior customer service to facilitate compliance with environmental regulations and effectively describe DEQ programs and procedures to permittees and the public.

The Virginia Department of Environmental Quality's Office of Land Application Programs is seeking a qualified candidate to supervise, plan, administer, organize, and manage the biosolids compliance program within the Office of Land Application Programs, which includes compliance assurance for VPA permits for generation, land application, and storage of biosolids and industrial residuals; identifies problems and needs, sets work tasks and schedules, allocates staff and other resources; provides technical/regulatory guidance to regional and central office biosolids permit program staff; reviews inspection reports; develops and implements inspection and compliance guidance and procedures in order to ensure the implementation of a consistent, legal, and accurate compliance assurance program for biosolids permits; conducts inspections and initiates enforcement activity; trains DEQ staff and land appliers; provides superior customer service to facilitate compliance with environmental regulations and effectively describe DEQ programs and procedures to permittees and the public.
