Data Science Intern (Remote or Hybrid, Summer 2023)
Responsibilities:
- Design experiments and formulate machine learning problems to address major business challenges and innovation opportunities
- Discover, collect, cleanse, and refine the data needed for analysis and modeling
- Analyze large datasets to extract actionable insights and inform experimental design and model development
- Write lucid, compelling summaries to communicate results of your analysis, model development, and testing which inform how the business should act
- Build models using a variety of statistical and machine learning techniques, assessing the best type of model for the problem context and using advanced techniques and customizations to optimize model performance
- Harden models for production deployment and monitor model performance over time
Eligibility / Requirements:
- Students must be actively pursuing a degree at a college or university and should either have at least one semester remaining prior to the completion of the internship or be currently enrolled.
- Internships are not available for students who have completed their college education or who will graduate prior to the conclusion of the internship.
- Applicants must be a US Citizen or permanent resident.
- Intermediate skills in Python
- Knowledge of major machine learning algorithms; practical experience with machine learning libraries and platforms (i.e. Scikit-learn)
- Demonstrated experience working with data at scale in the Hadoop ecosystem and a particular talent for using data to tell a story
- Solid statistical analysis skills a good understanding of experimental design
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, great communication skills
- Passion for learning and keeping pace with the latest advances in data science and machine learning
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s and PhD student studying Computer Science, Machine Learning, Data Science, Math, Statistics
- Prior relevant internship or full-time job experience
Working Environment & Program Dates:
- Optional hybrid work environment (if near Denver, CO or Cedar Rapids, IA) or 100% remote work environment
- Candidates must be able to work ~40 hours/week during the 12 week internship program (mid-May to mid-August)
- Work outside of normal business hours may be required

Compensation:

The salary for this position generally ranges between $20-$25 an hour for undergraduates and up to $35 an hour for graduate students. This range is an estimate, based on potential qualifications and operational needs. Salary may vary above and below the stated amounts, as permitted by applicable law.
