#BumpDay Intern

Established in 1997, the What To Expect Project (WTEP) is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization founded by Heidi Murkoff, leading maternal health advocate and author of What to Expect When You’re Expecting. WTEP harnesses the power and global reach of the What To Expect brand and mobilizes its community of more than 25 million moms to help bring about positive change, particularly on issues that impact moms and families most.

The What To Expect Project seeks a Summer Intern to assist in implementing the 2023 #BumpDay campaign on July 19th. This position reports to the Senior Policy and Program Associate and is remote with the possibility of meeting with staff based in Washington, D.C.  
  
RESPONSIBILITIES include but are not limited to:   
  • Assist in developing a project plan for #BumpDay outreach;  
  • Responsible for finding and contacting relevant partners for #BumpDay support/collaboration;  
  • Create and maintain comprehensive documentation on #BumpDay outreach/activities, development of materials, implementation, collaborations, and other pertinent information;  
  • Communicate, coordinate, and collaborate with various stakeholders;  
  • Outreach, coordinate, and oversee relevant #BumpDay events, and related activities;  
  • Contribute to the posting on social media for #BumpDay materials;  
  • Prepare messaging for #BumpDay outreach (i.e. emails, newsletters, socials, webinars, etc.); 
  • Create working document brainstorming ideas to increase #BumpDay engagement, partnership efforts, campaign initiatives and more;  
  • Assist in increasing support for a Congressional #BumpDay resolution by engaging with policymakers and providing text/background for the resolution; 
  • Ensure that all activities are delivered on time and within scope;  
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.  
 
QUALIFICATIONS:  
  • Working towards a bachelor’s degree in public health, public policy, or a related field preferred; 
  • Experience in maternal health work or academia preferred; 
  • Ability to multi-task effectively;  
  • Excellent communication, writing, analytical, interpersonal and organizational skills;  
  • Ability and willingness to perform a variety of tasks on short notice within designated deadlines;  
  • Self-starting and solutions-oriented, a strong team player, with a detail-oriented approach;    
  • Manage resources in an effective and efficient manner; 
  • Ability to work independently and remotely with a high degree of productivity, and to see projects through to completion; and 
  • Proven ability to solve problems creatively.
