Architecture Fellowship

MobilizeGreen seeks conservation-minded Engineerng/ Architecture Fellows who want a career opportunity in engineering or architecture-related fields for recent graduates interested in conservation careers and positions that support the FWS mission to work with others to conserve, protect, and enhance fish, wildlife, plants and their habitats. Through its partnership with the US Fish & Wildlife Service (“FWS”), MobilizeGreen is implementing the FWS’ Maintenance and Infrastructure Fellowship program for diverse participants.  The Engineering/ Architecture Fellowships typically are for 52 weeks.

As a Fellow, you will work in a urban or rural setting, gaining hands-on experience in:
  • planning or environmental protection;
  • data collection;
  • modeling and data analyses;
  • analyses of site location and/or conditions; and
  • and analyses of instrumentation data.

Through mentorship and training, Fellows will gain the opportunity to launch their career with a non-competitive or through other hiring authorities once they successfully complete their fellowship.

Project Types
  • Data Entry: collects and analyzes data. Performs basic surveys and measurements of work.
  • Communication: maintains interactions with staff, general public, officials, and contractors.
  • Technical Skills: prepares permit applications, material testing, drawings, and computer-aided design (CAD) work. Prepares visual aids. Completes limited engineering designs in a developmental capacity and developmental tasks associated with facility examinations, reviews, and/or inspections.
  • Project management: uses automated engineering systems, software applications, databases, and automated systems. Performs developmental assignments and tasks associated with any of the following: project management; administration of contracts and agreements; compliance; and database operation.
  • Outreach: plans activities with community service organizations, contractors, and the general public.
  • Analysis: performs trainee level engineering analyses associated with segments of engineering, architecture, physical science, planning or environmental protection assignments to include technical planning activities; data collection; modeling and data analyses; analyses of site location and/or conditions; analyses of instrumentation data.
  • Development: participates in and performs developmental tasks associated with facility examinations, reviews, and/or inspections.

Eligibility
  • You must have a Bachelor’s degree or certificate (or pursuing a degree) in engineering, architectureconstruction managementengineering techniciancommunity planningenvironmental protection, or other related disciplines appropriate to the position. A combination of relevant education and appropriate experience is also acceptable.
  • You are at least 17 years old and not older than 30 years old (veterans may apply up to age 35).
  • You must be an early-career professional with a strong interest in the FWS fellowship program.
  • You must be available to serve for 12 months in a selected location.
  • You are a citizen or lawful permanent resident.
