Position:
The Corporate Communications Intern is an integral member of the team, helping to support our internal and external communications activities that make Signet a great workplace and the growth and innovation leader in the jewelry industry. This hands-on role will assist with corporate events, media relations for KAY and Signet, and writing for internal and external audiences.
Responsibilities:
The main responsibilities of the role focus on Public Relations and Events:
- Supports the development of materials and briefs for internal and external events and efforts
- Updates key messaging materials for continuous use across corporate communications
- Develops press reports: weekly, monthly & quarterly outlining key metrics and calling out editor favorites
- Researches and gathers industry news to help the team stay on top of trends and competitors
- Drafts pitches for KAY and, to a lesser extent, Signet, based on trends and upcoming holidays
- Gathers media lists and researches new editors who should be added to respective lists
- Supports assigned projects for all aspects of planning a meeting or special event for the organization. Involved in assisting with location, food, transportation, other duties as assigned.
- Coordinates with Managers to assist in producing program materials, signage, attendee communications, program details and production of event itineraries/agendas. Assists in the purchasing of supplies, printed material and promotional items related to business, meetings and incentive travel.
- May assist in the tracking of financial expenses for these events using the appropriate systems, procedures and practices for account reconciliation, purchasing tracking and other registration and survey functions.
- May be asked to write stories and articles for Intranet, social and external newsroom
Basic Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled and pursing a degree in communications, journalism or similar field
- Graduation date range of August 2023- May 2024
- Strong interpersonal skills and team mindset
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
- Working knowledge and navigation of social media platforms, such as LinkedIn, desired
- Previous experience with content management systems desired
- Familiarity with HTML desired
- Familiarity with graphic design platforms such as Photoshop, Illustrator, etc. desired
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Work Environment:
- Remote: open to all candidates regardless of location
- This internship works part-time hours year round (20 hours/week for 6-9 months)
- May travel 1-2 times during the program to get onsite experience (trip could be as short as 4 days but up to 10 days)
The salary range for this opportunity is $18.00-$19.50/hour. Base pay offered may vary depending on geographic region, internal equity, job related knowledge, skills and experience, among other factors.
