Summer Arts, Climate & Social Justice Internship (In-person, Virtual or Hybrid)

The Human Impacts Institute is currently accepting applications for our internship program. You will be a great Human Impacts Crew member if you’re passionate about climate change and social justice issues. You are also self-motivated, a great collaborator, creative, and enjoy being flexible.

We offer Internships year-round and accept submissions on a rolling basis. Internship start dates vary, but are approximately June 1st, September 1st, and February 1st

What We Want
We are looking for passionate and creative minds who know how to turn ideas into action. We want crew members who are passionate about environmental and social issues, and who really get excited by marketing, social media, branding, communications, education, programming, policy, research, within the nonprofit sector. 

Internships will last for approximately three to six months and are available for New York City, Marseille, France, virtually or a combination thereof. Only applicants available for the full term will be considered. A minimum of 10 hours per week is required. Those who can commit 20 hours per week or more will be given priority. We welcome international applicants and professionals looking to expand their experience base (fluency in English is required). Unfortunately, we are not able to provide visa, stipend, travel, or lodging assistance at this time. Any visa requirements must also be fulfilled by the applicant before being accepted for an internship.

Our internships provide unique, behind-the-scenes learning experiences where you join us to develop, implement, and monitor our diverse programs. We promise to support your personal goals, while building your leadership potential. As a Human Impacts Crew member you will work in a collaborative environment with our dynamic team and will have access to a global network of experts. We are currently recruiting for the following positions:

  • NGO Management: As an NGO Management Intern, you will work closely with our Crew on grant writing, sponsorship proposals, individual donor requests, event planning, as well as earned income generation tools. You also develop and maintain monitoring and evaluation tools and assist with partnership development. If you’re applying to this internship, submit a one-page writing sample as part of your application.
  • Creative Communications: As a Creative Communications Intern, you will support our outreach and communications campaigns, as well as develop marketing and communications tools. You are creative, a good communicator, and social media savvy. Experience in Adobe Creative Suite and Canva is a plus. Submit at least 3 social media and design samples with your application.
  • Environmental Education: As an Environmental Education Intern, you will focus on curriculum and program development, coordinating workshops and stewardship programs, and local community outreach. You should have an interest in environmental education and hands-on learning. Experience in STEAM and teaching is a plus. NYC-based applicants or those who can be in-person in NYC will be given preference for this internship.
  • Global Leadership: As a Global Leadership Intern, you will support our international exhibits and events. Responsibilities include content development for outreach materials, establishing strategic partnerships, events creation and planning, as well as research and proposal development. Applicants who speak both English and French and/or Spanish will be given preference for this internship.
