PAID INTERNSHIP - Development Intern [THE RUBIN MUSEUM]

Development Intern Position

Title: Institutional Philanthropy & Corporate Intern

Intern Responsibilities:
The Development Intern will work closely with the Senior Manager of Institutional Philanthropy and the Development team at the Rubin Museum of Art to inspire increased Corporate Support of the Rubin’s programs. As a nonprofit, the Rubin relies on fundraising to present exhibitions, films, performances, and on-stage conversations as well as a robust roster of educational programs.  The Rubin Museum is pursuing major, wide-reaching initiatives in addition to planning activities aligned with our upcoming 20th Anniversary. 

This is an exciting time to learn alongside the Development team as they strategize multi-year campaigns and new global and digital projects.   

Projects/ Assignments:  
  • Research existing and prospective Corporate Members and Sponsors  
  • Help update and review the museum’s existing contact lists and files from past sponsors   
  • Assist with preparing written materials for outreach to prospective sponsors 
  • Collaborate with Development team to prioritize engagement strategies 
  • Engage with prospective sponsors in person, on the phone, and via personalized emails 
  • Engage with the public to inspire membership during a K2 Free Friday night event 
  • Assist with preliminary planning of a Fall Corporate outreach event 
  • Other duties as assigned to help support development and fundraising effort

Qualifications & Required Skills:
  • Enrolled in a bachelors or graduate program 
  • Interest in philanthropy, research, and arts administration 
  • Engaging personality with excellent verbal and writing skills 
  • Comfortable interacting with donors and potential donors on the phone and in person 
  • Organized and detail-oriented 
  • Able to maintain discretion and confidentiality 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite; knowledge of Excel 
  • Interest in art, museum studies, or Asian philosophies a plus
