PAID INTERNSHIP - Arts Intern [MADISON SQUARE PARK CONSERVANCY]
Intern Responsibilities:
- The intern will focus on a research project towards an upcoming exhibition in 2024.
- The intern will research the historical and contemporary routes of procession/parades between 120th and 23rd street on the East side of Manhattan. The intern will need to create a workback calendar and reading list, visit libraries and conduct research online, and synthesize their findings into a white paper.
- Through this project, the intern will hone essential skills such as time management, research, and writing, while also improving their writing skills through revision.
- In addition to this internship-long research project, the intern will assist Chief Curator and Senior Curatorial Manager on various aspects of the 2023 outdoor exhibition, Sheila Pepe's My Neighbor's Garden.
- They will work on public programs, the exhibition catalog, and give weekly tours to the public on the exhibition.
Intern Qualifications:
- Knowledge of and passion for contemporary art, artists, art history.
- Excellent written and oral skills.
- Strong skills in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, InDesign.
- Detail-oriented and organized.
- Ability to work effectively on multiple projects and to meet deadlines.
- An enthusiastic team player who enjoys working outdoors.
